The Ark of Dothan, Alabama
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. (Isaiah 43:2 NKJV)

OUR HISTORY

Mid-1950s
The Ark occupies buildings that were originally opened as a tiny 12-bed clinic/hospital by Dr. Paul Flowers sometime in the mid-1950s. The clinic was established in the former Blumberg family home on West Main Street in Dothan. The doctors, staff, and patients all knew each other. The "Emergency Room" was Dr. Flowers' office. The hospital "Dining Room" was a table in the old Blumberg kitchen and food was prepared and left on the back of the kitchen stove for self-service.

1963
An addition to the hospital was opened in 1963 and included a new 60-bed unit, two operating rooms, and two delivery rooms. The kitchen, record room, supply room, storage, and accounting office remained in the old hospital building.

1969
In 1969, after almost two decades in existence, a three-story addition was constructed adding 60 more beds. Read more of our history Read More

I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the fire scorch you.
(Isaiah 43:1b-2)
